Mayday, mayday! How is it already May? Time flies when you’re having fun, as the phrase goes. April was a busy month (although, I’m certain that is the case every month, therefore it was really just normal). I finished the month just shy of writing 90k words (whoohoo!) So, I’ll give you the breakdown on where it all stands. But first…
The Witch of Selvenor eBook is on sale this week! Grab a copy here for only 0.99c!! This ends Friday, so be sure to grab it fast! The Warlock of Dunivear also released this month and is now available. Find it here!
Now, the updates:
I took a bit of time off from my series this month to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo. I pledged 50k words on a new project, A Wife For Prince Sylas. The book still rests in the fantasy romance category, but this one is heavy on the romance (No magic and sword fighting here). I achieved my 50k words and ended up finishing the project completely at around 66k. I’ll let the manuscript “sit” for a few weeks, then do some editing on it. I’m dabbling with the idea of trying to go traditional with it, mostly for the experience of attempting that route of publishing. If I don’t manage to land an agent/publisher, I’ll be self-publishing it. But for now, we’ll just see where it goes. I wrote it as a stand alone, but as most of you know, once my brain starts, it has a hard time stopping. As of now, I plan to make it a series, although each book will be a standalone in its own right. I have three books planned for it, but I told myself I have to finish the Chronicles of Virgam series first. Sometimes my ideas snowball….this would be one of those times.
The new novel took me about three weeks, so last week was dedicated to returning to my series. I’m currently working on book 5, Shadows of Aknar, and have seven chapters left to write. This one has been interesting as I dive more into Eradoma’s character and what made her turn to the darkness. My pantsing has really surprised me with her, and I’ve discovered some interesting things about her character myself as I dive into her backstory. Not to mention, there may or may not be a fire breathing snake in this book!! I’ll probably have it finished next week, and then it will be time to move on to book 6. Busy bees never stop working.
I’ve also been self editing book 4. I’m close to having that half finished, and should also be completed early next week. I’ll send it off to my editor, but she isn’t scheduled to start working on it until the end of July. Book 3 is in editing and will be completed by end of month, so I’m planning the release for July (YAY!)
I’m slightly behind on my word count goal for the year (375k to date), but I’m happy with how far I’ve come and how much I’ve achieved. I’m enjoying this journey so much more than I ever imagined, and I’ve learned so much about publishing. I still have a long way to go, but I’m confident I’ll get there (most of the time…self doubt and all that happens).
Shout out to all those who have and continue to support me! You make this journey worthwhile! Thank you!
